Women with Art Knitting
8th edition of Urban Knitting Iznájar
More than 200 women from Iznájar have come together for a new Urban Knitting project that can now be enjoyed at various points throughout the town.
The Department of Equality of the Iznájar Town Council and the Guadalinfo Center have championed this activity every year since 2017, serving as “a tool for dynamism among the commercial fabric, active aging around new technologies, as well as an instrument of communication and cohesion between the population of Iznájar and its 19 villages, which has also served as a tourist attraction, all thanks to female leadership and empowerment.” (Iznájar Town Council, What is Urban Knitting Iznájar)
Dedicated on this occasion to the role of women in the world of art, the project has brought together magnificent works, and we are enormously pleased that Rubí Clásica was chosen as one of the fibers for its creation. Among the works, we find more than 200 crocheted hoops, a large climbing plant, two large "meninas" (figures inspired by Velázquez's painting), and fourteen giant cuadros (paintings/squares) where we can see great women represented such as Frida Kahlo, The Girl with the Pearl Earring, or Nefertiti, among others. Congratulations to all the women of Iznájar who have created these wonders!
