Beatriz Ulloa: "I always carry my work on my back."

We get to know a little more about Beatriz Ulloa (@beatrizui), a knitter lover who started out as a beginner and, by following tutorials, became a true knitting enthusiast, to the point of always carrying her projects with her. Now, she's the one creating her own designs and innovating with new creations. This is a story that shows us that with passion and dedication, there are no limits. Don't miss her interview!
- How did your passion for knitting begin?
I've always loved crafts. But in 2015, after learning the basics (knit and purl, yarn over…) from YouTube tutorials, and knitting a couple of scarves, I broke my ankle and was immobilized for a long time. While searching online, I discovered Pearlknitter, and since then I haven't stopped knitting. At first with her courses and then, since 2016, testing her patterns. For about a year and a half, I've unleashed my creative side and now I'm the one designing, and with the help of the Knitter to Knitter service that Clara created on her page, I've gotten the necessary push to publish my patterns.
- Where do you get your inspiration when creating your pieces?
From everything around me. Although most of the time, they are just ideas that come to my mind when I see a specific fiber or color…
- What materials and techniques do you feel most comfortable with when knitting?
What I like most is knitting in the round and having to make as few seams as possible. I love brioche and also knitting garments with lace patterns.
As for materials, I really like merino wool for winter and cotton for summer.
- What is your next project? What do you have planned for this summer?
Right now I am designing a top with your Bambú Zen quality with short sleeves and lace patterns.
- What do you like most about knitting with Lanas Rubí?
That you have so many different qualities, which are ideal for one garment or another, so the possibilities for choosing are vast and there is a wide range of colors.
- What is your favorite Rubí quality for this summer?
I like many, but I love Bambú Zen for its softness and drape. Plus, there are some beautiful new colors this summer.
