How to knit a baby jacket
We explain step by step how to make this baby bolero knitted with merino wool.

- Rubí Sweet Merino, 007 (2 skeins).
- Knitting needles No. 2.5.
- Crochet hook No. 2.
- Tapestry needle.
- 2 buttons.
- 5 stitch holders.
STITCHES USED AND ABBREVIATIONS
1/1 rib st (1K, 1P): 1/1 rib stitch (1K, 1P). Knit one stitch and purl one stitch, repeating the sequence throughout the row. On the wrong side row, knit as the stitches appear.
stockinette st: stockinette stitch. On the right side rows, all stitches are knit, and on the wrong side rows, all stitches are purled.
K st: knit stitch / K sts: knit stitches
P st: purl stitch / P sts: purl stitches
K2tog: decrease. Knit 2 stitches together.
inc: increase. Knit 2 stitches into the same stitch.
ch: chain.
sc: single crochet in crochet
st: stitch / sts: stitches.
row: row / rows: rows.
GAUGE
With 2.5mm knitting needles and stockinette stitch: 31 stitches and 42 rows.

NOTE: This bolero starts at the neckline and is knitted in one piece. Knit with knitting needles No. 2.5.
Cast on 59 sts.
Row 1: 6K sts, (yarn over, 2K sts, yarn over, 7K sts) x 5 times, yarn over, 2K sts, yarn over, 6K sts. (71 sts.)
Row 2 and all even rows: Purl all stitches and yarn overs.
Row 3: 6K sts, (yarn over, 4K sts, yarn over, 7K sts) x 5 times, yarn over, 4K sts, yarn over, 6K sts. (83 sts.)
Row 5: 6K sts, (yarn over, 6K sts, yarn over, 7K sts) x 5 times, yarn over, 6K sts, yarn over, 6K sts. (95 sts.)

BACK

Row 40: Cast on 5 sts at the beginning of the row and purl all stitches to the end of the row.
You will have 81 sts. Continue knitting in stockinette stitch for 36 more rows (until row 77).
RIGHT FRONT
Row 25-38: Pick up the sts from the right front stitch holder (30 sts.). Knit 12 rows in stockinette stitch, inc 1 st (knit two stitches into the same stitch) at the end of each right side row (armhole edge). You will have 36 sts. Knit 2 more rows (rows 37 and 38) in stockinette stitch.
Row 39: Knit all stitches to the end of the row.
Row 40: Cast on 5 sts at the beginning of the row and purl all stitches to the end of the row.
You will have 41 sts. Continue knitting in stockinette stitch for 36 more rows (until row 77).
LEFT FRONT
Row 25-38: Pick up the sts from the left front stitch holder (30 sts.). Knit 12 rows in stockinette stitch, inc 1 st (knit two stitches into the same stitch) at the beginning of each right side row (armhole edge). You will have 36 sts. Knit 2 more rows (rows 37 and 38) in stockinette stitch.

SLEEVE
Row 25-38: Pick up the sts from one sleeve stitch holder (35 sts.). Knit 12 rows in stockinette stitch, inc 1 st (knit two stitches into the same stitch) at the beginning and end of each right side row, a total of 6 sts on each side. (47 sts.). Knit 2 more rows (rows 37 and 38) in stockinette stitch.
Row 39: Cast on 5 sts at the beginning of the row and knit all stitches to the end of the row.
Row 40: Cast on 5 sts at the beginning of the row and purl all stitches to the end of the row.
You will have 57 sts. Continue knitting in stockinette stitch for 64 more rows (until row 105).
On the next right side row (row 106), decrease 6 sts evenly: (7K sts, K2tog) x 6 times, 3K sts. You will have 51 sts.
Knit in 1/1 rib stitch for 8 rows. Bind off all stitches by knitting them as they appear.
Pick up the stitches of the second sleeve and knit it the same as the first.
FINISHING AND ASSEMBLY
Sew the sides and sleeves and fit them to the body.
Optional (see photo). You can make a purl row on the right side of the work along the edge of the entire bolero, except for the neck.
With crochet hook No. 2, make a trim of 1 sc, 3 ch, 1 sc along the entire edge of the bolero, including the neck.
Weave in ends.
Sew the buttons onto the right front. The crochet trim will serve as a button loop.
