Christmas stockings

Christmas is just around the corner... and how we love to start preparing for it! The lights are already shining in the streets, the tree presides over the living room, and we decorate our home with ideal elements like these boots from Arinuskas.

MATERIALS

1 skein of merino wool RUBI COOL WOOL 200 g

Scissors

A stitch marker or a small piece of yarn of a different color

Optional

2 bells

PATTERN

STEP BY STEP

1) Take our skein, remove the label, and roll it into a ball shape for easier handling.

2) Cut a strip of about 25 cm and set it aside.

3) With the rest of the yarn, take one end, make a loop, and tie it with a loose knot.

4) Insert three fingers through the hole that has formed, and in this way, take the end of the yarn coming from the skein and create another loop. Remove your fingers and do the same for the new loop that has formed until a braid of 10 stitches is built. (10 spikes, each spike shape is a stitch).

Note: If we want to make a smaller boot, we will simply make fewer stitches. If we want it larger, more stitches.

5) Take the loop that formed at the very end, insert the beginning end, pull to tighten, and it will have become a closed braid circle.

6) Now, insert your fingers into the middle of the first loop and take an end of the yarn, forming a new loop. Do the same around the entire braid circle with each of the previous loops, as shown in the photo, a circle will be visible with loops around the central hole.

7) Mark the first loop we made with the stitch marker or the colored yarn.

8) Now, build another row of loops in the same way, starting at the first and going around the entire circle. Always working in circular rounds.

9) We reach the last stitch of the round, remove the marker, make a new loop in the first one of this last round, put the marker back so we always know which is the first stitch, and continue making rounds of loops until completing about 18 rounds, depending on the desired length of the leg part of our boot.

Note: Each row of loops becomes a row of spikes.

10) When we reach the desired length, in this case 18 rounds. In the last loop coming from the skein, we do as at the beginning, insert our fingers and pull out yarn until we make 4 new loops over that last knitted loop.

11) Now we continue pulling out loops and making a full new row of these new loops plus the sides we already had. So, loops will come out from both sides of the last braid we created.

12) Now we make approximately 5 or 6 complete rounds by pulling out loops; we will have a total of 18 loops to build the new rounds that will form the foot of the boot. We will always finish complete rounds.

Note : As we continue knitting, we will already see the shape of the boot.

13) When we finish the last loop, we take the end of the yarn from the end of the skein and pull it entirely through loop 1 of that last round. Now, we turn the boot over, placing both sides of the foot shape upwards. And we insert the end of the yarn, pulling it completely in a zigzag, one loop from one side, another loop from the other side, until reaching the toe. Insert the end of the yarn through the last loop and pull to give the foot a rounded shape.

14) Tie a knot at the end and tuck the excess yarn inwards. With the piece we saved at the beginning, we put it on the edge of the opening to hang it. Optionally, we can take the opportunity to tie the bells there.

FINAL RESULT

Now we can decorate it with bows, ribbons, small wooden plates with names... We can also turn it inside out, and it will have another very cool type of stitch. Now you can decorate it with Christmas ornaments, bells, fill it with sweets, small gifts, personalize it with names, and your Christmas boot is ready to hang on the
fireplace, the door, fill it with cotton and be a loving cushion.

Happy Christmas knitters!
