purl st: purl stitch

k st: knit stitch

k tbl: knit through back loop. Knit from the right through the back loop.

STITCHES USED

Stockinette stitch: knit all stitches on right side rows and purl all stitches on wrong side rows.

I-cord bind-off: cast on 3 stitches at the beginning of the row. *Knit the first and second stitch, slip the third and fourth stitch as if to purl, pass the left needle in front of the two stitches and knit them together through the back loop. Return the three stitches from the right needle to the left needle*. Repeat from * to * until the end of the row. When 3 stitches remain, knit the first stitch, knit the next two stitches together, and pass the first knit stitch over the last one to bind off.

Strap i-cord: cast on 3 stitches on a double-pointed needle. Knit the 3 stitches and slide them to the other end of the needle so that the stitch with the yarn tail is in third place (at the inner end of the needle). Knit the 3 stitches and slide the 3 knit stitches back to the other end of the double-pointed needle. Repeat until the desired cord length is reached. Bind off all stitches.
