Primeros pasos para tejer con niños

First steps to knitting with children

The best way to entertain the little ones at home these days? Let their imagination fly. To do this, teaching them to knit can set the perfect path for children to develop creative skills and dexterity.

Knitting has never been easier with the stitches and tips you'll discover in this article. We'll start by introducing them to the basics, always supervising their activity and using materials that pose no danger to them. That's why one of the best options is to teach them to knit with their hands or with plastic or very thick needles that they can't hurt themselves with.

Shall we get started?

The beginning

Introducing them to a completely unknown new activity can be very inspiring and satisfying for children, but you'll need extra patience and to put all your enthusiasm into it so that your children catch on, and thus, sharing your passion will be an enriching experience for the whole family.

The best option to start? Knitting with hands and fingers! Teach them to crochet with their fingers and with materials that are easy to handle. Our Rubí Trendy Home quality, for example, is perfect for crafts and has an optimal thickness for the simplest projects.

If for safety reasons you don't want to use needles and you don't have plastic or thick needles at home... use straws! You can reinforce these small plastic tubes to make them more resistant so that the little ones can use them without any danger.

What are the best stitches to start with?

Start by teaching your children simple stitches like the knit stitch or garter stitch. You can start by showing them the step-by-step very calmly and slowly, with a lot of patience. Make a row of stitches, trying to get them to pay close attention, and then challenge them to do it themselves. Once the child has become familiar with the materials and the type of stitch, you can guide their own hands and fingers through yours so that they gain fluidity and speed.

Remember that on our YouTube channel you can find tutorials to learn with. It will be fun to watch them as a family and set new challenges and learning goals.

A gift for life

If your child is creative, you will give them a great gift that will stay with them for life. Furthermore, it is a perfect passion for these times we are living in, ideal for doing at home and as a family, learning all together.
