Teje calados a crochet

Crochet openwork

If there's one quality that catches the eye once knitted and excites you while you're knitting it, it's undoubtedly Rubí Gominola Premium. Today, we're focusing on its virtues for crocheting openwork, detailing the Marina bolero, which we presented at the latest edition of the Sevilla Teje fashion show.

This project was born inspired by the blend of colors that the Rubí Gominola Premium yarn itself gives us; seeking simple yet eye-catching stitches and a structure to make the most of this premium quality yarn from Lanas Rubí.

One of the main advantages of this yarn is that you can enjoy the color changes without having to worry about making them yourself; gradually, as you knit, you'll discover how it transitions from one color to another, creating a fresh and pleasant combination.

When knitting this garment in size M, for which you'll need 5 balls, we confirmed that Rubí Gominola Premium is extremely pleasant to knit with, not only because of how it glides on your hook, but also because of the drape it has once knitted.

The combination of the two main stitches, both the one that creates a wavy pattern and the openwork, allows us to see that we have a soft and light yarn, but depending on the stitch you use, you will get a final result with body and definition in the stitch, without losing an iota of grace and movement.

Through the openwork stitch that we teach you to knit in this post, we invite you to enjoy Gominola Premium in its most summery version. You can apply this stitch to different projects and levels of difficulty.

Here are some ideas to wear Gominola Premium this summer with this openwork stitch:

  • Knit a rectangle wide and long enough to make a super original pareo for pool and beach days.
  • You can also create a top that combines several simple granny squares for the upper part, and once joined, knit the bottom part of the top with this openwork stitch.
  • If you dare to try a more elaborate garment, you can knit a simple cardigan and then join the different pieces, keeping in mind that they will be the back, front 1 and 2, and both sleeves. You can join the pieces with basic seams and a tapestry needle, and then knit simple stitch borders on the lower hems and the strips. Almost without realizing it, you'll have a charming garment perfect to show off in the coming months.

Apply this openwork stitch with Rubí Gominola Premium and discover the most fun openwork through your crochet hook.

V-STITCH OPENWORK

To knit this openwork stitch, you should consider the following:

  • It is a multiple of 5 + 2 stitches.
  • The stitch sample is knitted on 25 chains + 2 (i.e., 27 total).
  • Knit your tension swatch and take measurements before starting any project.
  • You only need to know how to make chain stitch, single crochet, and double crochet.
  • This stitch creates a "V" openwork pattern.
  • This stitch is worked in rows, meaning you turn your work at the beginning of each row.

Continue this same sequence until the end of the R. and finish the R. with 1 sc. + 1 ch. and 2 dc. in the 3rd turning ch. of the previous R.

Repeat these 4 R. until you reach the desired length for your work.

If you're encouraged to knit this stitch and apply it to a specific project, remember that knitting a tension swatch and taking measurements before and after blocking will help you knit the garment to the desired dimensions. You can find your Gominola Premium yarn balls here.
