Knitting wool socks

It doesn't matter how warm the rest of your body is, if your feet are not warm, you will constantly feel cold all over your body.

We teach you how to make these exclusive wool socks designed by Knitting Sheep with a tutorial available on our YouTube Channel. We can't imagine a winter without them!

MATERIALS

  • 2.5 mm circular needles with 20 cm and 80 cm cables.
  • Stitch marker.
  • Tapestry needle and scissors.
  • Choose your favorite colors in the online store.

ABBREVIATIONS

They are knitted from the toe up (Toe Up), using the magic loop technique. To avoid "Second Sock Syndrome," both are knitted at the same time. Only the heels will be worked individually, in rows of decreases and increases with German short rows. They have been designed in three sizes S (M, L) and, depending on the size, the stitches will be reflected in color and in parentheses.

Material preparation.

Divide one skein of Rubí Socks in half to knit both socks at once. Use a scale and make sure both weigh 50 g. Then, ensure that the beginning of each skein starts with the same color, even if you have to cut a piece of yarn, so that the pattern matches.

HOW TO MAKE WOOL SOCKS

TOE: Using Judy's Magic Cast On method, cast on 20 (24, 28) stitches. You will have 10 (12, 14) sts on each needle, with one skein for each sock. R 1. Knit all sts (ndl1 and ndl2). R 2. On ndl1 *k1, Yo, k to 1 st before the end of the needle 9 (11, 13), Yo, k1* repeat on ndl2. Turn needles and continue knitting *k1, Yo, k to 1 st before the end of the needle 9 (11, 13), Yo, k1* repeat on the next needle. Note: In all even rows, increases will be made with yarn over (4 increases per row on each sock). R 3. Knit all sts, working the yarn overs through the back loop to avoid holes. Repeat until you have a total of 60 (64, 68) sts. That is, 30 (32, 34) on each needle.

FOOT: Knit all sts, continuing with magic loop until 4 cm remain to reach the length of the sole of the foot. Try on the sock and when it reaches the ankle height, start with the heel.

HEEL: The stitches on each needle will be divided in half. The instep stitches will be held to be picked up at the end 30 (32, 34) and the heel stitches 30 (32, 34) will be worked flat and individually (ndl1 and then ndl2). Use circular needles with a 20 cm cable or straight needles for more comfortable knitting. In this part, rows will be worked on the right side and wrong side, first decreasing and then increasing with the German short row technique.

HEEL DECREASES R 1 (RS): Knit all sts. Turn work. 30 (32, 34) R 2 (WS): Bring yarn to front, slip first st purlwise from left to right needle and pull yarn forward to create a double stitch (yarn to front, slip and pull). Purl to last st. 29 (31, 33). Turn work. R 3 (RS): Yarn to front, slip and pull, k to last st before double st. Turn. 28 (30, 32) R 4 (WS): Yarn to front, slip and pull, p to last st before double st. Turn. 27 (29, 31) Repeat rows until you have the same number of stitches as the beginning of the sock 10 (12, 14).

HEEL INCREASES R 1 (RS): Knit to the first double st. Knit it. Turn. 11 (13, 15) R 2 (WS): Sl1, p to the next double st. Knit it. Turn. 12 (14, 16) R 3 (RS): Sl1, k to the next double st. Knit it. Turn. 13 (15, 17) Repeat rows until you have the same number of stitches as the beginning of the heel 30 (32, 34)

LEG: With both heels finished, place both socks back on the 80 cm cable, picking up the held instep stitches. Continue with magic loop until reaching 11 (12, 13) cm. Note: when joining the front and back of the sock, pick up one stitch on both sides and knit them together (k2tog) through the back loop to avoid holes on the sides.

RIB: Following the instructions for each size, knit the rib, creating the lace and bobble pattern on the front and simple rib (1 x 1) on the back. Repeat each row on ndl1 and ndl2. R 1. k1, p5 (p6, p7), k17, p5 (p6, p7), k1 *p, k*, rep. * * to end. R 2. k1, p5 (p6, p7), k5, k2tog, [yo, k1] 3 times, yo, [sl1, k1, psso], k5, p5 (p6, p7), k1, *p, k*, rep. * * to end. R 3. k1, p5 (p6, p7), k19, p5 (p6, p7), k1 *p, k*, rep. * * to end. R 4. k1, p5 (p6, p7), k4, k2tog, k7, [sl1, k1, psso], k4, p5 (p6, p7), k1, *p, k*, rep. * * to end. R 5. Repeat R 1. R 6. k1, p5 (p6, p7), k3, k2tog, [k1, yo] 2 times, k3, [yo, k1] 2 times, [sl1, k1, psso], k3, p5 (p6, p7), k1, *p, k*, rep. * *to end. R 7. Repeat R 3. R 8. k1, p5 (p6, p7), k2, k2tog, k5, bobble, k5, [sl1, k1, psso], k2, p5 (p6, p7), k1, *p, k*, rep. * * to end. R 9. Repeat R 1. R 10. k1, p5 (p6, p7), k1, k2tog, k2, [yo, k1] 2 times, k3, [k1, yo] 2 times, k2, [sl1, k1, psso], k1, p5 (p6, p7), k1, *p, k*, rep. * * to end. R 11. Repeat R 3. R 12. k1, p5 (p6, p7), k2tog, k6, bobble, k1, bobble, k6, [sl1, k1, psso], p5 (p6, p7), k1, *p, k*, rep. * * to end. Repeat: R 1-12 one more time. When finished with the pattern, knit 3 rows of simple rib (1 X 1). Bind off.

Special stitches Sl1, k1, psso: slip 1 st as if to knit, knit 1 st, and pass the slipped st over. Bobble: In the chosen place to make the bobble, knit 5 sts in 1 st. Turn work and purl these 5 sts. Turn work again, [sl1, k1, psso] 1 time, k1, k2tog. Turn work again and purl 3 sts. Turn work again, sl1 st to the right needle, k2tog, pass the st from the right needle over.

Finishing: With a tapestry needle, weave in loose ends. Block the socks by submerging them in cold water with a little delicate laundry soap. Rinse well, wring out excess water, and place them on a clean, dry towel. Roll up and press to remove moisture. Remove the towel and arrange them on sock blockers. If not, let them dry flat on a mat.
