Summer knotted tote bag

We continue with the collection of accessories crocheted by Ana from @arinuskas Our Rubí Handy Cotton quality is the star, and the goal is to create the freshest and most colorful accessories for this season. Today we're crocheting a perfect bag to wear with your summer outfits or to take to the beach. Let's get to work!

MATERIALS

6 balls of Handy Cotton Rubi

Crochet hook size 5 for the first round and size 7 or 8 for the rest.

Leather base with 60 holes (or any rigid material, fabric-lined cardboard, plastic...)

6 wooden beads with holes

Scissors

Choose your favorite colors for this top through our online store.

FINAL RESULT

PATTERN

With the 6 balls, form a single 6-strand ball.

ROUND 1

Take your base and insert the strands into a corner hole, leaving a loose end. Pull the other end towards the inside of the base.

Now we will crochet this first round in single crochet.

Sequence

[Insert the hook through the hole, catch all the strands, pull them through the hole, yarn over again, and close the stitch]. Repeat this sequence all around the base. All in single crochet. Total 60 stitches.

Close the last stitch with a slip stitch, then chain 1.

Tip: don't pull the stitches too tight throughout the round.

ROUND 2

Now, take the size 7 hook, turn the work to face the inside of the base, and crochet one complete round of single crochet over the previous round. Total 60 single crochet stitches.

Close the last stitch with a slip stitch.

Rounds 3, 4, 5, and 6

From here, start crocheting in 3-stitch net stitch.

Sequence

[Chain 4, skip 2 stitches from the previous round, and single crochet into the third stitch.

Continue this sequence around the entire round, but with 3-stitch chains until you finish the round. Close the last stitch of the round with a slip stitch into the base of the starting chain of the round.
Rounds 4, 5, and 6 are done the same way, but joining the stitch into the chain arch that has formed.

ROUND 7

Chain up 4, and crochet this round in loose slip stitch.

Next step

The Handles

Now, join the doubled yarn strands and make two braids approximately 40 cm long each, joining the ends on each side, leaving about 10 cm of fringe.
You now have the handles.

Insert the wooden beads into the fringes, alternating heights, and secure with a knot.
Position the handles centered on the body of the bag and attach them with several stitches sewn to the last crocheted round.
