When and how did the idea of creating your own blog come about?
In the beginning, it was a way to communicate what was happening at Sheep Days, I announced my classes and workshops, where my designs could be found… all of this I now do from my Instagram (it’s much simpler, faster and more practical). Nowadays, the blog has grown and become a website from which I sell both patterns and “ready to…” designs, and I basically use the blog to post small tutorials.
Do you also teach classes in creative haberdasheries? What does this experience bring to your virtual world?
Classes allow you to be in direct contact with the world, to know instantly whether the pattern you are creating will be liked or not, whether it is understood, and also the best way to explain the techniques.
What do you like most about dedicating yourself professionally to design?
Being able to do whatever I truly "feel like." Let me explain, when creating patterns, each design is different and allows me to exploit my creativity, I don't repeat designs and I don't get stuck. My job is the least monotonous in the world and that's really cool, I'm not going to deny it.
What inspires you when creating or designing new patterns?
Well, some people will tell you that they use a certain social network a lot. I'm inspired by life; this sounds very poetic, but the reality is that sometimes you're on the subway and something just occurs to you, sometimes it's the colors, other times the shapes, and sometimes you don't know where it comes from but it comes. Then, of course, you have to be observant, have an inquisitive mind, and feed your visual culture a lot.
Your next challenge?
I tend to set small challenges one at a time and see what emerges. Right now, I'm in the middle of a pattern for the brave that's giving me some "trouble," but I've been really looking forward to it. And, I'm sorry, but that's all I can tell you... everything else is top secret.
An anecdote…
I keep them for myself and my students, a secret of confession.
