When and how did the idea for Gallimelmas e Imaginancias come about?

The idea for the blog arose from the need to share what I was crocheting and to show it to other crocheters.

Little by little, it evolved into a place where I could help and advise others in some way, whether they were beginners, self-taught, or stuck, through my experience designing and giving workshops.

For me, the blog is the perfect place to meet virtually, learn, and crochet together.

What do you like most about dedicating yourself to design?

I love crocheting amigurumi. Imagining characters, drawing them, and bringing them to life with needles is magic, and I experience it every day.

But that would be nothing if no one crocheted them. Being able to see these designs made by different people, how each one crochets it in their own way, making it their own somehow, is very rewarding.

I know I am part of that moment of relaxation when they get home and pick up their crochet hook, and in some way we are connected, and they share their enthusiasm and joy with me as they crochet.

My work then stops being just something creative and becomes a social good that unites and creates community.

What inspires you when creating new products?

I often think about what I would like to be learned from that pattern, what the goal of crocheting it is, and what can then be applied to other projects. And the next step is to make it fun!

I usually draw inspiration from nature and little animals, because it brings me a lot of tenderness, and you can then play with it to make it fanciful and unique.

What is your next challenge?

To make it even more difficult! That is the phrase that guides me to keep going, always surprising and infecting people so they enjoy crocheting as much as I do.

An anecdote?

In 2015, I participated with some of my amigurumi and other crochet creations in the movie “Embarazados” (Pregnant) It was super exciting to be able to see them afterwards on the big screen and be part of a story! It made me very proud that Spanish cinema reflected our crafty crochet world in a movie.
