Mumkoa

When and how did the idea to create your platform and showcase your work come about?
Three years ago, in November 2016. It all started with my motherhood, always inspired by my little Victoria. The very beginning was breastfeeding necklaces (Mumkoa even had a different name back then). I wanted to bring these necklaces, which were so beneficial to me, to the mothers in my town. Then creativity bloomed, and I created my dreamcatchers. And so, little by little, my brand evolved into what it is now, the brand of beautiful dreamcatchers.
The website came later; it's not even a year old yet, but it has been a huge boost and a very big step that I am very proud of.
What do you like most about being dedicated to design?
The creation phase is one of my favorites. Translating a unique design, created and imagined by me, onto a sketch has always seemed very magical to me. Although what excites me most is when that sketch becomes real and I can see my creation in its new home, protecting the dreams of both young and old or decorating a beautiful corner. I love it!
What inspires you when creating new products?
Motherhood and my daughter are my main source of inspiration. The feelings, emotions, textures, and even smells (the smell of being a mom) that surround them help me create new products or new color palettes. The feel of a sweater, Victoria's fear of the dark, or one of her drawings can be captured in a dreamcatcher.
Also, opening my mind and soaking up all the art around me, whether through Instagram or Pinterest or by attending in-person workshops... it all adds a lot of spark to my creativity.
What is your next challenge?
One I'm already involved in: the creation of my first online dreamcatcher course. Thanks to Ana from Colmena Craft who is trusting in me, it's almost a reality.
Another super challenge is to take my in-person dreamcatcher workshop across the pond, specifically to Mexico. That's also becoming a reality.
An anecdote?
I have so many! Many good ones, and some not-so-good ones too. But I'll stick with the most beautiful of all, which is having been able to meet all the women in my Mastermind group. Super magical. Especially because we're each from a different corner of the world. From Mexico, Argentina, Holland, Galicia, and Jaén. Very different but with a lot of passion in common. That's the most beautiful thing about entrepreneurship, all the people you meet along the way and all the friendships you create.
