MATERIALS

For the bear socks, we will use Rubí Nogal Col. S001 (Ecru): 1 skein, Col. S003 (Brown): 1 skein
and Col. S012 (Bluish green): 1 skein; 4 mm crochet hook; Yarn needle; Scissors

Choose your favorite colors in the online store.

FINAL RESULT

PATTERN

SIZE 4-5 years (shoe size 30): 10 cm leg x 8.5 cm width x 18 cm foot length

· Knit each piece according to the pattern, taking into account the stitch abbreviations and the yarn used.

· All rounds are worked in a continuous spiral, unless otherwise indicated.

· Join the pieces as explained in the assembly instructions and enjoy adding details.

STITCH ABBREVIATIONS:

Sc = Single crochet

Dc = Double crochet

Sl st = Slip stitch

Inc = Increase

Dec = Decrease

Back Loop Only = Work into the back loop of the stitch only.

[ ] = Work stitches between brackets into the same stitch.

HOW TO CHANGE COLOR

For the color change to be as discreet as possible in spiral knitting, the new color yarn must be inserted into the last loop of the last stitch of the previous round.

We will start the round with the new color by making a Sl st through the back loop of the stitch and a Sc through both loops in the same stitch. This trick will help us balance the "color step" that usually forms.

It is important not to crochet into the initial Sl st; it must be skipped so that it fills the step, otherwise we will be adding an extra stitch in each round.

INSTRUCTIONS

Both socks are crocheted in the same way:

TOE (X2):

Start with Rubí Nogal col. S012 Bluish green:

R1: Magic ring with 6 Sc (6 sts.)

R2: 1 Inc in each st. (12 sts.)

R3: (1 Sc + 1 Inc) x 6 times (18 sts.)

R4: (2 Sc + 1 Inc) x 6 times (24 sts.)

R5: 1 Sc in each st. (24 sts.)

R6: (3 Sc + 1 Inc) x 6 times (30 sts.)

Change color to Rubí Nogal col. S001 Ecru:

R7-R8: 1 Sc in each st. (30 sts.)

Change color to Rubí Nogal col. S012 Bluish green:

R9: 1 Sc in each st. (30 sts.)

R10-R21: Repeat rounds R7-R8-R9 with the corresponding color changes to form the stripes.

Change color to Rubí Nogal col. S001 Ecru:

R22-R23: 1 Sc in each st. (30 sts.)

At the end of the toe, we should have 6 stripes in col. S001 Ecru and 5 stripes in col. S012 Bluish green.

Do not cut, continue crocheting the heel.

HEEL (X1):

Continue from the toe:

Change color to Rubí Nogal col. S012 Bluish green (cut and fasten off the S001 Ecru yarn) and crochet:

9 Sc + 18 Ch + skip 12 sts + 9 Sc (36 sts.)

This way we divide the toe into two: leg and heel. We only work on the heel part:

R1: 8 Sc + 1 Dec + 16 sts over the Ch + 1 Dec + 8 Sc (34 sts.)

R2: 7 Sc + 2 Dec + 12 sts + 2 Dec + 7 Sc (30 sts.)

R3: 5 Sc + 3 Dec + 8 sts + 3 Dec + 5 Sc (24 sts.)

R4: 3 Sc + 3 Dec + 6 sts + 3 Dec + 6 Sc (18 sts.)

R5: 1 Sc + 3 Dec + 4 sts + 3 Dec + 1 Sc (12 sts.)

R6: 1 Dec in each st. (6 sts.)

Close, cut and fasten off.

LEG (x1):

Continue crocheting from the division of the toe.

Start with Rubí Nogal col. S001 Ecru in the 1st separating chain with the heel to hide color changes:

R1-2: 1 Sc in each st. (30 sts.)

Change color to Rubí Nogal col. S012 Bluish green:

R3: 1 Sc in each st. (30 sts.)

R4-R9: Repeat rounds R1-R2-R3 with the corresponding color changes to form the stripes.

Change color to Rubí Nogal col. S003 Brown (cut and fasten off the Ecru and bluish green yarns):

R10-R18: 1 Sc in each st. (30 sts.)

R19: 3 Sc + 1 Sl st + [3 Dc together] + 1 Sl st + 7 Sc + 1 Sl st + [3 Dc together] + 1 Sl st + 14 Sc (34 sts.)

Sl st to join.

Cut and fasten off. Embroider the bear's nose with Rubí Nogal col. S001 Ecru by making two horizontal stitches and one vertical stitch.
