80 cm support, tape measure, scissors, 10 cm template, adhesive tape, and clips.
Recommendations
To cut each cord, I recommend placing adhesive tape where you are going to make the cut,
cut right in the center of the piece of tape. This way you ensure that it does not fray at both
ends.
To make the template, a piece of cardboard or cardstock, 10 cm wide, is enough,
with this you will have the template for the entire project.
This pattern, being more advanced, and with many different steps, each step of the pattern, is
explained in sections. Each section is separated by 10 cm of unknotted cord, which you will have to measure
with a template.
Before each section I will tell you where to place the template to measure correctly. Hold the template
with clips at the ends, you will use it throughout the project in this way.
You make the Mediterranean vest on a wooden support, as if you were making a
tapestry.
Always start from the left. Make the knots firm, tightening the cords well at
each knot.
Abbreviations
The abbreviations for the knots are as follows:
LH, Lark's Head knot.
SQ, square knot.
HH, half hitch knot.
DI, diamond knot.
SI, simple knot.
C*, unknotted cords.
WOOL CARDIGAN PATTERN
Step 1: Fold each cord in half, tie to the support with 1 LH. Position the cords as follows: 20 cords of 8 m, 20 cords of 5 m, 20 cords of 8 m. 60 knots in total. Mark the center of the vest with a ribbon or cord.

Step 2: Start with the template below step 1. Make three rows of SQ.

Step 3: Place the template below the previous knots. Make one row with SQ. In the next row, make alternating SQ again to the previous one.
In the next row, follow the sequence: 4 C*, 2SQ, 4 C*, 2SQ, 4 C*, 2 SQ, 4 C*, 4 SQ, 4 C*, 2 SQ, 4 C*, 2 SQ, 4 C*, 2 SQ, 4 C*, 2 SQ, 4 C*.
Continue in the next row, under the previous SQ, and make 1 SQ in each. It has a pointed shape.
Now, from the center of every two points, make 1 HH with each cord. Use the highest cord on each side of the point as the guide cord. Repeat on both sides. To close the point, always use the right cord. There are 10 points in total.
Group the points in twos, and in the center of each, make 1 DI. Close the DI with HH on
all cords, forming a rhombus. With a total of five rhombuses (the central rhombus is a
little smaller).

Step 4: Use the template below the side peaks. Make two rows with SQ. In the next row, from the 5th SQ, make 3 SQ. Below, 2 SQ, and below, finish with 1 SQ. In the 12th SQ, start with 6 SQ. Below, make 2 SQ, 4 C*, 2SQ, and below, 1 SQ in each peak (two peaks in total). In the center of both peaks, make 1 HH with each cord to form another DI. Close the DI with HH on all cords, forming a rhombus.
In the 22nd SQ, continue with 3 SQ, below 2 SQ, and below finish the shape again with 1 SQ.

Step 5: With the template at the tip of the side peaks. Make two rows of SQ. In the next row, follow the sequence: 4 C*, 2 SQ, 4 C*, 2 SQ, 4 C*, 2 SQ, 4 C*, 2 SQ, 4 C*, 4 SQ, 4 C*, 2 SQ, 4 C*, 2 SQ, 4 C*, 2 SQ, 4 C*, 2 SQ, 4 C*. In the next row, make 1 SQ for every two SQ to finish the peak shape. There are 10 peaks in total.

Step 6: Place the template on the first row of knots from the previous step. In the next row, repeat the sequence: 4 C*, 5 SQ, 4 C*, 5 SQ, 4 C*, 4 SQ, 4 C*, 5 SQ, 4 C*, 5 SQ, 4 C*. Continue below each 5 SQ, and make 4 SQ, below 3 SQ, below 2 SQ, and to finish the peak, 1 SQ. In the center of the 4 SQ, make below, 3 SQ, below 2 SQ, and 1 SQ to finish the peak.
Continue this section with the same HH shape, from the highest cord, and closing the peak with
the right cord. There are 5 peaks in total.

Step 7: With the template from the first row of knots of the previous step, make 1 SQ with cords 25, 26, 27 and 28. With cords 93, 94, 95 and 96, make another SQ. Repeat this sequence for both knots: below, make 2 SQ, below 3 SQ, below 4 SQ, and finally 5 SQ.
Move to the next row, and knot with SQ in this, and the other three rows. In the next row, use HH to knot all the cords. Use the two center cords of the vest (marked with ribbon or cord) as guide cords: the right cord towards the right side. The left cord towards the left side.
*You are now in the shoulder area of your Mediterranean vest, you will have to cut the excess cords from the neck area and continue with the same template until finished.

Step 8: Count 40 cords on the right side and another 40 cords on the left side, and tie them with a ribbon or cord to separate them from the rest. Confirm that there are another 40 cords in the center. With those 40 cords, make 1 SI in each, adjusting well to the previous HH. To finish the neck area, cut the excess cords.
*Prepare the cords on each side. Now each step is repeated on both sides equally.
To begin each step, start from the outside, meaning, looking at the vest from the front, the right side will start from the right, the left side will start from the left.

Step 9: Using the first cord from the outside (the one used in the previous HH) as a guide cord, make 1 HH with each cord from the outside towards the center of the vest. With that same guide cord, in the next row, repeat with HH on all cords, towards the outside. Finish with an SI on the guide cord, and cut the excess cord.

Step 10: Directly below the previous step, make four rows with SQ. In the next row, from the 3rd SQ, make 4 SQ, below that repeat with 3 SQ, below that 2 SQ, and finish the peak with 1 SQ.

Step 11: With the template on the first row of SQ from the previous step, continue two rows with SQ. In the next row, from the 2nd SQ, make 6 SQ, below 5 SQ, below 4 SQ, below 3 SQ, below 2 SQ, and finish below with 1 SQ.
With HH, make the entire peak from the highest cord. And close with HH on the right cord.

Step 12: Place the template at the beginning of the previous peak. Make two rows with SQ. In the next row, follow the sequence: 4 C*, 2 SQ, 4 C*, 2 SQ, 4 C*, 2 SQ, 4 C*. Continue in the next row, and make 1 SQ for every two SQ to give it the peak shape.

Step 13: With the template placed on the previous peaks, make SQ in the next four rows.

Step 14: Repeat exactly step 11.

Step 15: Place the template from the previous peak. Make SQ, in the last nine rows.
*Unclip the support and carefully remove each LH from the support. Place the vest on a flat surface, and fold to give it the correct shape. With the side cords, you will join each side of the vest, you will make vertical SQ, and you will use the two outer cords of the vest as central cords.

Step 16: Square the vest and place step 12 on top of step 5. With a side cord, begin to make vertical SQ. To knot, use the two outer cords as central cords. Continue until you reach the last row. Repeat this step again on the other side.

Step 17: Hang the vest on the support again, and arrange the cords at the end. The cords that tied it to the support should be at the back; cut them down the middle so they
separate. Cut the cords at the front to the same height as those at the back. Finish the vest with a SI knot at the end of each cord.
