Breastfeeding pillow work: Merino and Ensueño

MATERIALS:

To make this nursing pillow, we will use Rubí Ensueño color 002, 3 skeins; Rubí Merino color 520, 3 skeins. Knitting needles for the top part (with pattern) No. 4, for the other garter stitch part No. 3; Hollow fiber filling; Tapestry needle.

PATTERN:

With merino wool and size 3 needles, cast on 100 stitches. In garter stitch, increase 1 stitch on both sides in all rows, a total of 28 stitches on each side. Then continue straight. At 25 cm from the beginning, cast off 12 central stitches. Reserve the stitches from one side and continue with the other, casting off 4 stitches – 2 stitches – 2 stitches – 2 stitches. Continue, and at 40 cm from the beginning, decrease 1 stitch at a time on both sides, a total of 8 stitches. Then 2 stitches 4 times and cast off the remaining stitches.

Knit the reserved stitches in the same way. The top part of the cushion consists of 3-stitch cables, which are made as follows:
Cast on 94 stitches.
Row 1 (right side of work)
1 purl – 2 knit, repeat this to the end of the row.
Row 2: 1 knit – 1 purl. Yarn over and another purl. Repeat to the end of the row.
Row 3: 1 purl, 3 knit. Repeat to the end.
Row 4: 1 knit, 3 purl.
Row 5: 1 purl – 3 knit and slip the first knit stitch over the next 2. Repeat to the end.
Row 6: This row is the same as the 2nd. Here you must yarn over between the 2 stitches that have been joined. With the previous rows, we have made one cable, and with this last one, the 6th, we begin another cable.

After making the first cable, increase 3 stitches on each side to make one more cable. This is done eight times. Then knit straight until you have 25 cm from the beginning. Cast off 3 central cables, reserve one side, and continue with the other.

In the next row, cast off one more cable. Make the next cable, and at the end of it, cast off. Continue, and at 45 cm from the beginning, cast off one cable at the end of each on both sides, a total of 5 cables. Then cast off all remaining stitches.

The other side is made in the same way.
Sew the two parts together, leaving a small opening on the straight part to turn the work inside out and then stuff it.

Finally, sew it closed.
