FINAL RESULT

ABBREVIATIONS
MR: magic ring
SC: single crochet
SL ST: slip stitch
INC: increase (make two stitches in the same stitch)
DEC: decrease (two stitches become one)
R: round
PATTERN
This project is crocheted in a spiral, so there's no need to close rounds; we only mark the last stitch of each round. Unless otherwise stated, the sequence is repeated until the end of the round.
BODY
R1: 6 sc in MR
R2: 1 inc in each stitch (12)
R3: 1 sc in each stitch
R4: 1 sc, 1 inc (18)
R5: 1 sc in each stitch
R6: 2 sc, 1 inc (24)
R7: 1 sc in each stitch
R8: 3 sc, 1 inc (30)
R9-10: 1 sc in each stitch
R11: 4 sc, 1 inc (36)
R12: 1 sc in each stitch
R13: 5 sc, 1 inc (42)
R14-27: 1 sc in each stitch
R28: 5 sc, 1 dec (36)
R29: 4 sc, 1 dec (30)
It's a good time to stuff the fish
R30: 3 sc, 1 dec (24)
R31: 2 sc, 1 dec (18)
R32: 1 sc, 1 dec (12)
Finish stuffing if needed
R33: 6 dec. Cut the yarn, with a tapestry needle, pass it through the front loop of all stitches and pull to close the body completely.
TAIL FINS
R1: 6 sc in MR
R2: 1 sc in each stitch
R3: 6 inc (12)
R4: 1 sc in each stitch
R5: 1 sc, 1 inc (18)
R6-8: 1 sc in each stitch. Make a sl st in the next stitch, cut the yarn and crochet another fin the same way, except for the last sl st and without cutting the yarn.
Once you have both fins made, you need to join them. To do this, insert the hook into the slip stitch of the first fin you made; this is the first stitch of round 9.
R9: 1 sc in each stitch of both fins, for a total of 36 stitches.
R10: 5 sc, 1 dec, 1 sc in the last stitch (31)
R11: 1 sc in each stitch
R12: 4 sc, 1 dec (26)
R13: 1 sc in each stitch
R14: 3 sc, 1 dec (21)
R15: 1 sc in each stitch
R16: 2 sc, 1 dec (16)
R17: 1 sc, 1 dec (11) Cut the yarn and sew the tail to the body with the tapestry needle.
EYES (two per fish)
R1: 6 sc in MR (black color)
R2: 1 inc in each stitch (white color). One slip stitch, cut the yarn, weave in the ends and sew them to the fish with white thread. Embroider the baby's name on the fish by syllables, making as many fish as there are syllables in the name.
MOBILE
Now it's time to assemble the mobile. With yarn corresponding to the color of each fish, make a slip knot, insert the hook into the center of the fish, and make 50 chain stitches. Repeat the previous step for all fish, but for each subsequent fish, make 15 more chain stitches than the previous one.
Once you have made the chains for all the fish, tie the ends to the plastic ring and, with your preferred color, make single crochets, covering it completely and hiding the knot ends.
Mobile finished! Now hang it in the crib or wherever you prefer!
