Butterfly Stitch – Ruby Happy

For our Rubí Happy yarn, we recommend the elegant butterfly stitch.

It's a stitch that knits up quickly, especially in the round, and it's motivating because you complete butterflies and feel like you're making more progress. You can combine it in many ways, using it only for details or making it the star of your entire project.

Furthermore, the Rubí Happy yarn and its colorful nature make the Butterfly stitch even more fun, as the color transition creates an original result and enhances the vibrancy of these skeins in a unique way.

We show you how to knit this stitch in a video tutorial on our YouTube Channel.

STEP BY STEP

Cast on a number of stitches multiple of 10 + 5 (for knitting in the round). If knitting flat, cast on a multiple of 10 + 5 + 2 stitches (for selvage stitches).

This stitch is explained step-by-step for knitting in the round. If knitting flat, you should keep in mind that you must knit the edge rows in K, and the even rows in P.

Knit R1 and R3: K

R2 and R4: P

The butterfly stitch motif consists of 5 rows; the butterfly is 5 stitches and alternates with 5 knit stitches.

R5, R6, R7, and R8: *K5/P5WS+YO WF* *_* to the end of the row.

R9: K7, pick up all yarn overs and knit one K / continue knitting, keeping in mind that the third stitch of the 5 butterfly stitches should always be knitted as shown in the video, i.e., together with the strands.

To alternate the butterflies, continue knitting but first knitting the stitches corresponding to the butterfly, and then the 5 K stitches.

You can leave space between the butterfly blocks by knitting several rows of stockinette stitch, or by alternating butterfly blocks.
