Visera Miami

Visor Miami

This visor knitted by Own Style DIY is the perfect accessory for this summer. Protect yourself from the sun with style and creativity.

It's a very quick project to make. You have the smaller and the larger version. Both versions are for adults, and the head circumference is the same. The difference is that the base piece for the head is narrower and the brim of the visor is shorter, while the other has both a wider head base and a larger visor brim. They are tied at the back with a ribbon or cord, so you can easily adjust it to your head size without having to modify it.

MATERIALS

Small version: 1 ball of Nómada.

Large version: 2 balls of Nómada

4 mm crochet hook.

Stitch markers, scissors, tapestry needle.

PATTERN

STITCHES YOU WILL USE:

The part that goes around the head is made in daisy stitch (pm), this stitch consists of 5 half double crochets closed together. In the diagram you can see where each stitch is taken from. This stitch is separated by a round of single crochet (sc).

As you can see, the daisy stitch consists of those 5 half double crochets closed together. At the beginning of the round, first take the two stitches from the starting chains and the first stitch, then move to the next two stitches to close it all together (photo 1). Afterwards, the first two half double crochets are taken from the vertical side of the last stitch you made, the stitch itself, and the next two stitches, closing everything together (photo 2).

For the brim of the visor, you will only use single crochet (sc), but you will make increases to create the brim and decreases at the beginning of some rounds.

At the end, you will make a round of crab stitch (reverse single crochet) around the visor. The crab stitch is the same as single crochet, but you start from the opposite side from which you would start for single crochet and work backwards.

The parts you see between asterisks are repeated.

It is important not to make the stitch too loose, rather tight, especially on the brim of the visor.

STEP BY STEP

Chain 71.

Row 1: 1 ch, 71 sc.

Row 2: 2 ch, 1 ch (space), *pm and 1 ch (space)* 34 times in total. To finish, make one pm.

Row 3: 1 ch, 71 sc. As seen in the diagram.

Row 4: 2 ch, 1 ch (space), *pm and 1 ch (space)* 34 times in total. To finish, make one pm.

Row 5: 1 ch, 71 sc. As seen in the diagram.

If you are making the large version, you should do two more rows, similar to rows 2 and 3.

Row 6: 1 ch, 5 sc * 1 sc increase, 4 sc,* repeat 12 times in total. 1 sc increase, 5 sc. (84 stitches)

Row 7: 1 ch, 1 sc decrease, all in sc until the last two stitches where you will make 1 sc decrease. (82 stitches)

Row 8: 1 ch, 5 sc, *1 sc increase, 5 sc,* repeat 12 times in total. 5 sc. (94 stitches)

Row 9: 1 ch, 1 sc decrease, all in sc until the last two stitches where you will make 1 sc decrease. (92 stitches)

Row 10: 1 ch, 5 sc, 1 sc increase, 5 sc, * 4 sc, 1 sc increase* 14 times in total. 5 sc, 1 sc increase, 5 sc. (108 stitches)

Row 11: 1 ch, 1 sc decrease, all in sc until the last two stitches where you will make 1 sc decrease. (106 stitches)

Row 12: 1 ch, 1 sc decrease, all in sc until the last two stitches where you will make 1 sc decrease. (104 stitches)

Row 13: 1 ch, 1 sc decrease, all in sc until the last two stitches where you will make 1 sc decrease. (102 stitches)

If you are making the large version, continue with the following rows as indicated before making the crab stitch row. Otherwise, you can now make the crab stitch row.

1 ch, 6 sc, 1 sc increase, * 9 sc, 1 sc increase* repeat 9 times in total. 7 sc. (114 stitches)

1 ch, 1 sc decrease, all in sc until the last two stitches where you will make 1 sc decrease. (112 stitches)

1 ch, 1 sc decrease, all in sc until the last two stitches where you will make 1 sc decrease. (110 stitches)

1 ch, 1 sc decrease, all in sc until the last two stitches where you will make 1 sc decrease. (108 stitches)

For both the small and large versions, you should make a round of crab stitch, but around the entire edge of the visor brim.

Position yourself at the beginning of the visor, from where you finished the rows of the head base, and from there you begin to make the crab stitch.

To finish, on the vertical edge of the head base, you will make 1 sc over the sc row and 2 ch for separation to move to the next sc row and do it again. This way you will make the buttonholes for the ribbon or cord that will close your visor.

Now all that's left is to decide if you want to add a ribbon or a cord made from the jute itself.

It's ready!!!

RESULTS:

Small visor

Large visor
