Chain 6, skip 6 stitches and in the seventh make a slip stitch, continue like this until the end of the round where we will leave 5 chains unworked and in the sixth we make a slip stitch. This will form 7 arches.

Round 6)

Yarn over and in the first arch make 6 dc, chain 3 and in the same arch another 6 dc, at the join of the arches make a slip stitch and continue the same as the previous arch, when you finish crocheting the arches close with a slip stitch, fasten off and cut the yarn.

Submerge the grannies in warm water and block them by the tip of the petals.

Let them dry.

Now our grannies are ready.

Now we continue with the central part of the rug.

Joining pieces:

Now take the central circle and place 6 sun flower grannies around it, with one petal tip touching the central circle, and join them with markers.
Also join with markers the two tips that meet from each granny with the one next to it.

Take the first granny placed around the central circle and join it to the central circle with a slip stitch, continue crocheting along the edge of the granny in single crochet, picking up both loops until the join of the granny (next marker, join by picking up the central loop of the tip and continue along the edge until the next marker join, which this time will be next to the central granny, continue like this until all the grannies are joined to the central granny and to each other.

Once all are joined, continue crocheting in single crochet over the last round of the central granny, one single crochet for each stitch.

And the central circle will now have a border in the other color.

Using markers, join the next 12 grannies around the ones we have joined, forming a hexagon, and join them with a small stitch.

We make the joins of these grannies with a slip stitch at each join point and fasten off.

And now, optionally, all that's left is to join the tips of those petals to the granny joins with a stitch.
And ready, sun flower rug finished. If a larger size is desired, simply add more grannies around it.
