Pinafore dress with bloomers

STEP BY STEP

PINAFORE

Front part

Cast on 98 stitches, work 8 rows of garter stitch, then change to stockinette stitch. Work 22 cm, decreasing 8 stitches on each side, evenly distributed (approximately every 10 rows); this is where the top part begins. The following decreases will be made on both sides: first 8 stitches, then 3 stitches twice, then 1 stitch 4 times, and finally 1 stitch 6 times, but every other row. Before finishing these decreases, at 33 cm from the bottom edge, shape the neck by binding off 10 central stitches and then 1 stitch 4 times.

Make buttonholes where indicated (see photo).

Back part

All the same as the front part until reaching the top shaping. Decrease on both sides: first 6 stitches, 4 stitches 3 times, 3 stitches, 1 stitch twice, and finally 2 stitches 6 times, then bind off the remaining stitches.

Pocket

With 2.5 mm needles and Rubí Handy Cotton yarn, cast on 24 stitches and work 38 rows in garter stitch. In row 34, make the central buttonhole (see photo).

Straps

With 2.5 mm needles, cast on 80 stitches, work 9 rows in garter stitch and bind off all stitches.

For the top edge, work one side first and then the other.

With the 2.5 mm needle, pick up the necessary stitches and work 5 rows of garter stitch.

Finishing

Sew the sides, the pocket, and the straps. Attach the buttons where indicated and iron.

BLOOMERS

Front part

Cast on 27 stitches, work 4 stitches garter stitch, 19 stitches stockinette stitch, and the last 4 stitches garter stitch. Do this for 4 cm, then begin increases. After the first 4 garter stitches, make a yarn over, and before working the last 4 garter stitches at the end of the row, make another yarn over. Repeat this until you have 11 increases on each side.

In the next row, increase 5 stitches at the beginning and another 5 stitches at the end of the row. Continue straight until you have 9 cm, then work 12 rows of 1x1 rib stitch.

Back part

From the crotch of the front piece, pick up 27 stitches, same as the front. Instead of working 4 cm without increases, start increases from the first row here, approximately 16 increases. It should have the same opening as the front. The rest is the same as the front.

Assembly and finishing

Sew the sides and fold the top elastic stitch inwards, insert the white elastic and finish.

Iron before finishing.
