It seems that face masks are here to stay longer than expected, but let's not get discouraged! To help you warm up to this peculiar accessory, at Lanas Rubí we are organizing a winter outfit challenge, consisting of a matching face mask and hat, and we want you to dare to create your own designs!

HOW TO MAKE THE HAT & MASK WARMY?

HAT

For the hat, cast on 176 sts. The cables are 12 sts (6 over 6) with 4 sts between each cable.

The first 24 rows are worked straight with the following distribution: the 12 sts of each cable are separated by 2 purl sts, so we knit 5 sts, purl 5 sts, knit 5 sts, and then the 4 purl sts separating the cables. This is repeated until the end of the row and for 24 rows.

Begin crossing the sts to form the cables. From this point on, the 2 purl sts that we made in the middle of the 12 sts of each cable are no longer worked.

Using a cable needle, slip 6 sts. First knit the next 6 sts, then knit the sts slipped on the cable needle.

Repeat the cable cross for the next group of cables after 14 rows.

There are 11 cables wide and 3 and a half long.

The wrong side rows are worked as appropriate, purl stitches are purl and knit stitches are knit.

Construction

Sew the long seam, fold the first knitted part inwards and stitch it down.

Gather the top and close as much as possible. Finally, sew on a knitted pompom with Rubí Garabatos, matching the mask.

FACE MASK

To cover the face mask, we will use a 3 mm crochet hook and Rubí Garabatos.

Make a chain of approximately 23 cm, then work 46 single crochet stitches. In the center of these 46 stitches, increase by 2 stitches, every other row.

After 18 rows, begin to decrease at the beginning of the rows. At the same time, decrease 2 stitches in the center of the rows.

Continue decreasing along the edges of each row: 4-4-3-1-1-1-1-1 on both sides. Then close the remaining stitches.

Finally, sew this piece to the face mask all around the edge and make a seam in the center, attaching it to the lining fabric.
