HOW TO MAKE THE CHILD'S SLEEVELESS SWEATER?
BACK
Cast on 78 sts, with 3.5 needles and yarn color 009, knit 17 rows of 1x1 rib stitch.
Change to 4.5 needles and yarn color 002.
On the right side of the work, distribute the stitches as follows: 13 knit stitches, 2 purl stitches, 8 knit stitches, 2 purl stitches, 28 knit stitches, 2 purl stitches, 8 knit stitches, 2 purl stitches, and finally 13 knit stitches. All wrong side rows are worked as the stitches appear.
The right side row described above is repeated 5 times, which, combined with the wrong side rows, totals 10 rows between each cable crossing, forming the cable stitch.
To make the cable crossing, in the 2 groups of 8 stitches, first slip the first 4 stitches onto the cable needle, knit the next 4 stitches, and then knit the 4 stitches from the cable needle. As I said, this is done on the right side rows 5 times.
ARMHOLE
At 60 rows from the ribbing (27 cm), decrease 2 sts – 1 st – 1 st on both sides.
SHOULDER
At 21 cm from the armhole, shape the shoulders: 6 sts, 6 sts, 6 sts, 4 sts. Bind off the remaining stitches.
FRONT
Cast on the same number of stitches as the back and work everything the same until reaching 39 cm, where we will shape the neck by binding off the 8 central stitches, then 2 stitches 3 times and 1 stitch 3 times.
Work the same number of rows from the bottom to the armhole and from there to the shoulder.
ASSEMBLY AND FINISHING
Before sewing the vest, we will make the neck ribbing by picking up the necessary stitches, first those from the back and then the front, joining them while sewing the shoulders. Next are the armholes, which we will sew at the same time as the side seams.
The neck band has 8 rows of 1x1 rib stitch and the armholes have 6 rows.
